Burial of Carnival
The Burial of Carnival is an ancient tradition Sobretâmega where, spontaneously, the population joins at the end of a day of revelry and makes the Burial of Carnival, personified in a rough figure, known for Arthur. The event begins with the gathering of revelers next to the doll, lying in a rough wooden urn, where everyone mourns his death and the cries of widows and friends are heard. The following is the first sermon and begins the funeral procession through the center of Canaveses village (classified as Village of Portugal) towards the river Tamega. By the river, everyone gathers around Arthur, read the last sermon and say goodbye. Burns Arthur dead and sends it to your last trip on the river Tamega.
