From August the 16th to the 20th will occur in Viana do Castelo the popular festivities paying tribute to “Our Lady of Agonia”, festivities that were actually born back in 1772, through the devotion of seamen that would ask protection to the saint patron. The festivity kept on growing and today combined with devotion, history and ethnographic richness it is considered as the “festivity of festivities iin all Portugal”, attracting annually around one million visitors to Viana do Castelo city during various days. Fromits schedule stands out the Butler Parade, the “Traje” (traditional costume)’ Festivity, the Sea Procession, the Ethnographic procession or the fireworks, such as the Serenade by the Eiffel Bridge.
