On March 29, Holy Thursday, the Municipalities of Marco de Canaveses and Penafiel mark once again the secular Celebration of Endenças. The celebrations begin at 8.30 pm with the Mass of the Lord's Supper at the Parish Church of Santa Clara do Torrão.
Around 9.30 pm, the procession of the Lord of the Steps is followed by the chapel of S. Sebastião, in Entre-os-Rios, where the "Sermon of the Encounter" between Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows will take place.
The endoconsus is a unique religious tourism event, in which thousands of small bowls illuminate the two banks of the Tâmega river, the parish of Alpendorada, Várzea and Torrão (Marco de Canaveses), the place of Entre-os-Rios (Penafiel) and still the place of Boure on the left bank of the river Douro, belonging to the municipality of Castelo de Paiva, places that constitute old Couto de Entre-os-Rios. This procession is also accompanied by "Boats of Fire" by the river.
On Friday, March 30, at 3:00 p.m., the Burial Procession of the Lord completes the reverse course, returning to the Parish Church of Santa Clara do Torrão, in Marco de Canaveses.
