Melgaço
Description

Area consisting in buildings, characterized by their simplicity of shape and structure and by the widespread use of three materials: stone (granite), wood (oak) and the stem (straw), later replaced by tile. Houses usually consist of two floors: downstairs lies the  ground floor reserved for animals and the upstairs the house with a fireplace, and sometimes more divisions. Floors are linked by an external staircase access. An attached building can be seen. It is usually a covered porch for tools, wood and straw, all within a small walled courtyard that sometimes does not exist.
