Paço de Calheiros

Ponte de Lima
Description
Classified as Monument of Public Interest

Visiting Paço de Calheiros is like stepping into the pages of a historical romance. Situated on the slope of a hill, this manor offers a stunning view of the vineyards and orchards. The lush gardens, with their many fountains, are an invitation to a quiet stroll. At the entrance, the staircase leads to a chapel and a balcony. The interior of the manor is all decorated with fine pieces of antique furniture, tapestries, pottery and books. There are also portraits of the Calheiros family, who have always lived in the current house. It was built at the beginning of the 18th century to replace the primitive building, dating back to the 14th century. However, staying overnight in the house is no longer the exclusive privilege of the family – this was one of the first mansions to be adapted to tourism. This is why it has a fantastic swimming pool with panoramic views, a tennis court, and other facilities to provide an unforgettable stay. Living, if only for one day, in Paço de Calheiros, is without a doubt an experience you will never forget!
