The Pretarouca Dam located in river Balsemão - about one kilometre downstream from the bridge between Pretarouca and Dornas, and about 1.5 km upstream the bridge of EN2, in a section dominated by the river basin, is 24.0km2. This is a concrete classic gravity dam, in spite of its straight abutment; it presents a curvature in plan with a crest that is 306 metres long and 7.5 metres high.
