The Fornelos River Beach is an idyllic and peaceful location, next to the clear waters of Aguilhão River dividing the Parish of Fornelos and Louredo. Although in the locality of Barreiro (Louredo parish) on the left bank of that river, the owners of the land are from Fornelos. The authorities have made valuable investment for the population of the municipality (the addressees of the progress) and also for the outside. It is that the river beach also has users of Vila Real.
The Fornelos River Beach was inaugurated by the Mayor of Santa Marta de Penaguião on 12 July 1998. It is a beautiful recreation area, of pleasant freshness with a weir on the river that serves as a natural swimming pool. In the surrounding area (and sealed) a grassed part for sunbathing, and support structures: bathrooms, toilets, and a bar.
