The Interpretation Centre erected in the former building of the primary school in the hamlet of Vila Verde, in the parish of S. Martinho de Mouros, is a museological showroom whose theme is the cherry.
It consists of a permanent exhibition room and a space called “glass cube", which gives access to an outside space, where you can admire an orchard with several varieties of cherry. It also houses the association CER Resende.
Its location allows you to enjoy a privileged view over the Marão Mountains and the river Douro.
On the weekend following the fourth Sunday in May, is held the Cherry Festival, an event that aims to promote the precious fruit.
Animation, folk music, a parade, good food and good wines from the Douro region are, besides the cherries, strong reasons for a visit.
