Born in Aldeia de Cima, Aldeias parish in 1903 was better known by his literary name: Jose Fausto.

He graduated in Law in Coimbra, was Public Registrar in Porto Santo (Madeira),Councilor and Mayor of Armamar

But José Fausto became known and his name ran the whole country by virtue of his literary work. He was contributor of the magazine Presença, the successor to the famous Orpheus, was part of Coimbrão movement which stood out names such as Jose Regio, Casais Monteiro, Saul Dias, Branquinho da Fonseca, Miguel Torga, Almada Negreiros, among others.

He died on September 26, 1975 at his home in Aldeia de Cima, where he wrote a significant part of his work.

 José Fausto left a vast literary work, but today none of the titles are edited. There are, however, two exceptions: an edited anthology and published in two volumes and another to mark the passage of the writer's birth centenary in 2003, both issued by the city of Armamar.
