Quinta do Espinho

Tabuaço
Description / Facilities
Situated in the Douro demarcated region since the XVIII century and whose landscape has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Quinta do Espinho belongs to the family Macedo Pinto, a reference name in wine production in the region. Currently, the brothers Joaquim Macedo Pinto Peres Ventura and Alberto Macedo Pinto Azevedo Gomes are the owners.

Set in 25 hectares in the Douro shale slopes, extends from the height 75, at the River level to a height 195, with the vineyard at levels of one or two bards.

Their logistics and strategic situation is exceptional in accessibility and, above all, the enormous potential wine, landscape and environment of the productions in which it engages.

The farm has two installments. An urban, with several buildings: the winery, the main warehouse and the house, dating from the eighteenth century, and other rustic, consisting of vineyards and traditional stone walls, olive terraced stone and bush land.

Every year are vinified various types of table wine and port wine and, in smaller quantities, olive oil and honey of high quality.

The Quinta do Espinho’s shop has a privileged location on the waterfront of the Douro River near the mouth of the river Távora. Here, they promote sales of wines and other Douro producers.

They offer a set of wine tourism programs tailored to each situation. These programs include visits to facilities and vineyards, wine tastings, meals, receptions and, at the season, monitoring of harvests and stomps the grapes. In partnership with external operators they also organize boat trips, hiking and all-terrain.
