Farm-house of Reguengo / Alvarinho Route

Melgaço
Description / Facilities

The fans of Alvarinho Wine can’t possibly miss to visit the Quinta do Reguengo, as well as the Solar do Alvarinho. This farm which produces the famous wine variety, framed within vineyards and bathed by the River Minho, has amazing views over the mountain ranges of Peneda-Gerês.

This old manorial house dated from the 17th century belonged to the Castro family, the ancient mayors of Melgaço and Castro Laboreiro. The architectural beauty of the mother house, the chapel and the fountain, while fine examples of Romanesque architecture, deserve a closer look.

Since 2001, the farm-house provides lodging for those who seek for a place to stay. A unique opportunity to wake up, open the window and encounter the Alvarinho vineyards and the green mounts of Peneda-Gerês.

Included in the Rota do Vinho Alvarinho, this farm boasts a specialized wine cellar where you’ll be able to taste the spice of this famous wine from the subregion of Melgaço and Monção, and especially the house's trademark - the "Reguengo de Melgaço", awarded in many national and international contests.

Come savor this unique wine variety, which only grows in the Iberian Peninsula, with its light and fresh palate, its citron color and delicate aroma.
