Casa do Telhô (Manor House)

Celorico de Basto
Description
The Casa do Telhô, located in the parish of Arnoia, is an 18th-century Manor House which has undergone several building interventions in the 19th century.

The House features a rectangular design of horizontal development, simple ornaments and a sober staircase, without much display. The main entrance boasts the coat arms of the family, in particular that of the Mouras and the Coutinhos. Highlight to the fountain that belongs to the House, dating back to the 19th century.

The novelist Camilo Castelo Branco was a guest of Casa do Telhô during his stay in the land of Basto whilst fleeing from justice, being from this time, the writing of the book "Novelas do Minho".
