Faia Alta Waterfall Itinerary

Mogadouro
Description

The itinerary is located in the Douro International Natural Park.  It starts at Lamoso, an attached village of the Parish of Bemposta, until the Faia da Água Alta,  a waterfall with over 40m high, one of the most relevant natural places of International Douro Natural Park. It is also one of the largest waterfalls in Mainland Portugal.

The blue waters of Ribeira de Lamoso that feed the Faia, blended in with the green landscape, with the granite gray tone and the brown earth, and with a variety of tones and sounds. It lends charm to the tranquility of the itinerary.

It is a 6.0 km itinerary with a high average difficulty, because it has sharp ascents and descents along the two kilometers that surround the waterfall.

It is a winter itinerary but it can also be performed in summer. In summer the river has not too much water but you can appreciate the beauty of the flora and fauna of the International Douro Natural Park.

The distances of each point are:

Lamoso - Faia da Água Alta: 2 km

Circuit of the Faia da Água Alta: 2 km

This itinerary is mixed, it has a linear journey and the other journey is circular and it only can be performed as a walking route, bike path or with an off-road vehicle.
