Crossing the village medieval area, on the Square of João de Deus we can find the Municipal Archive building, the former headquarters of the “Grémio da Lavoura” (Farming Corporation).
Opened to the public in 2007, the Municipal Archive is the result of repairing works and adaptation of a building from the XVIII century, according to the project of the architect Paulo Gomes. Here we can find old documents, such as the charter of the county - dating from the XIII century and granted by King Afonso III, the royal charter of the former Valadares County, and the official reports since the XVI century to the present.
Open from Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 17:00pm.
