The Atlantic climate, very wet winters and hot summers, relatively dry, but with moderate temperature variations, as well as the base of a granite soil, provide a sandy base texture with excellent drainage properties, very useful for our unique quality of grapes. Arinto, Azal and Avesso grape varieties dominate the landscape of our valleys, as well as Trajadura, Loureiro and Alvarinho, promoting the quality of the white wines produced in our municipality.
Vinhão, Azal red and Borraçal are the genesis of our reds. Padeiro and Espadeiro create unique wines, pinkish but with strong character, such as people who live here since ancient times. White wines are fruity, full of youth, freshness and minerality; reds are intense, dark coloured and have robust tannins; rosés emanate defined aromas, fruity and irreverent, sublimating pleasant hints of pale salmon colours, refreshing and smooth.
