From October 26 to December 7, the Amarante Municipality carries out the fourth edition of "Amarante de Igual para Igual", a privileged space to address themes such as equality, health, violence in intimacy, disability and, this year , with emphasis on the theme of aging.
With the main objective of promoting reflection and dialogue extended to all civil society for the different social representations and forms of discrimination that subsist in today's society, "Amarante de Igual para Igual" starts on October 26, marking the Municipal Day of Equality (October 24) and Ostomized Municipal Day, (October 26) and extended until December 7.
The opening session will take place on October 26 at 2:30 pm in the Noble Hall of the Municipality of Amarante, where the book "Sentence or Opportunity?" Will be launched by Valéria Pinheiro. As a way to mark the Municipal Day of the Ostomizado will be presented this "inspirational story told in the first person about the transformation of problems into opportunities and the reconstruction of dreams that we thought were lost." Following is the inauguration of the exhibition "Equality is on the Street", in Alameda Teixeira de Pascoaes. It consists of the decoration of a letter that composes the slogan Amarante from Equal to Equal, by the users / clients of private social solidarity institutions, with intervention in the field of childhood, disability and old age.
In turn, "Living from Equal to Equal" integrates actions in the area of ​​disability and non-discrimination. This year, and with a view to implementing the winning project of the 3rd edition of the Young Participatory Budget - "Hands that speak", of the proponents Bárbara Pereira and Sara Dias, on the National Day of Portuguese Sign Language, November 15, will be presented to the students of the 4th year of public and private education and of the multideficiency units the children's musical "Fada Juju and the Magic School". The main objective of this initiative is to help children to overcome barriers, fears and prejudices, as well as to face the difference with naturalness, especially of the hearing impaired.
At this level, the FENACERCI National Meeting will be held in Amarante on November 14, 15 and 16.
In the scope of health promotion actions will be held, in partnership with the ATHOS Association, the third edition of the Health Fair, on November 24 and 25 and will also be marked the International Day of Prematurity, November 17, with lighting of public buildings the color purple.
In order to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25, awareness-raising activities in the community, with a special focus on the young, will be promoted through the dramatization "Do not let silence become complicit in violence" by the Filandorra, in the House of Youth of Amarante, between the days 24 and 30 of November.
The closing of this Campaign takes place on December 7 with the usual "Conversations from Equal to Equal", this year around the Risks and Challenges of Aging, addressed to all professionals in the area of ​​health and social intervention.
In 2018, the Municipality of Amarante was honored by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality with an honorable mention under the "Living in Equality" award.
