MICKAËL DE OLIVEIRA
"The Life of John Smith" is the 2nd episode of the "Socrates Must Die" diptych, whose absolute premiere takes place at Centro Cultural Vila Flor.
In this episode, Paul, Peter, Mary, Anna and Socrates (reincarnated in John Smith) wake up from a long sleep in a Natural History Museum. They are awakened by three members of the Academy: That (Miguel Moreira), That (Pedro Gil) and Aquelother (John Romão) who are in charge of presenting to them the world that emerged from the utopia drawn in the first episode: a community defined by the primacy of the soul in relation to the body. Memory, language, fiction, affiliation, difference and alterity are the themes that fuel the discussion in which everyone has to come to a decision on the future of this new world, in danger of an unprecedented threat.
