SWR BARROSELAS METALFEST is one of the oldest festivals of extreme music throughout the Iberian Peninsula, active since 1998. Located since the first edition in 1998 in the quiet village of Barroselas, in the north-west of Portugal, the festival has two interior stages, whose entrance is made by presenting the festival bracelet, plus an outside, free access. Through the SWR enclosure, metal giants such as Venom, Immortal, Kreator, Possessed, Sodom, Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Dying Fetus, Primordial, Metal Church, Watain, Hypocrisy, Candlemass, Basement Mice, Immolation, Triptykon, The Haunted , Brujeria, Enslaved, Carpathian Forest, Shining, Entombed AD, Impaled Nazarene, Gut, Agalloch, Katatonia and many more. This Music Festival dedicated to Heavy Metal is organized by NAAM - Nucleus of Support to the Musical Arts.
