Description
Slate Museum and Cultural Center of Campo

The Slate museum and the Cultural Center of Campo were inaugurated on the 27thOctober/2001. The space includes the museum area and an indoor (136 seats) and an outdoor auditoriums aimed for several events.
The museum area extends by three medium-sized houses built in slate with traditional techniques. The first house is the reconstitution of a Miner's house, with the kitchen, the rest and the workshop areas, where women and children made the slate feathers during the evening as a supplement of the slender wages earned in the mine. In the remaining houses are exhibited the estate and documentation related to the slate, from the extraction to the processing. There is also a temporary exhibition of slate works made by the Vallis Longus School. This space offers educational services, workshops and guided tours on appointment.
