On Padre Fontes' 80th birthday, the Ecomuseu de Barroso inaugurates the "Alma Mater" permanent exhibition. It is a biographical vision that follows the life path of the most important and esteemed mud of our time. The project aims to make known the unique figure of António Lourenço Fontes. The human and religious aspect, the journalistic and literary vein, as well as his anthropological and ethnographic work are subtly intertwined, unveiling a man who is essentially a provocateur and a stirrer of consciences.
"Alma Mater" seeks to deconstruct the esoteric image, often related to Padre Fontes, revealing, in the expository discourse, aspects of his life that until today are practically unknown and / or devalued by the general public. Based on this assumption, the exhibition aims to demonstrate the breadth and, often, the originality and vanguardism of both its thinking and its actions. Indeed, the prophetic nature of many of his ideas finds, today, an undeniable resonance.
More than proposing an illustrative exhibition, "Alma Mater" intends to transmit to the new generations of Barroso the intrinsic value of their territory, a kind of identity contamination that perpetuates Love, Respect and the sense of Belonging to the galaico-barrosã culture.
