Artur Pastor's photographic exhibition "Montalegre, Pequeno Grande Mundo" on display at the Ecomuseu de Barroso – Espaço Padre Fontes from July 22nd.
On the 22nd of July, the Ecomuseu de Barroso - Espaço Padre Fontes, with the support of the Lisbon Municipal Archive, opens the temporary exhibition of photography by Artur Pastor "Montalegre, Pequeno Grande Mundo".
The exhibition, consisting of 47 photographic records, is oriented in a bipartite format, in which the visitor, in addition to contemplation 'between doors', is invited to walk a path guided by the photographer's objective in the 50's, in the village of Montalegre, where he began your professional career.
In this way, the museum joins other initiatives organized all over the country, in the celebration of the centenary of the birth of one of the most notable photographers of the 20th century, and currently one of the most sought after in the Lisbon Municipal Archive, which since 2001 has held most of your estate. At the same time, and above all, it intends to honor the true heroes of this territory, whose specificity was recognized in 2018, with the classification of Barroso as a World Agricultural Heritage by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. At the same time, raising awareness and alerting to the need to preserve and conserve this agro-silvo-pastoral system, of agriculture and of the rural world.
The Ecomuseum also calls for the active participation of the community, challenging all those who may have lived or told memories related to the photographs displayed, to share them with the museum's employees and thus contribute to the safeguarding of this heritage that belongs to all of us.
